March 18, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Host Color (hostcolor.com) has beefed up its email service with a new anti-spam solution installed in its US data center.
Host Color says it has deployed Clam antivirus and Spam Assassin, two leading Linux email protection solutions. The service is deployed on a specialized server designed to heighten its performance.
"Generally anti-virus and especially anti-spam scanning require a lot of system resource," says Venelin Mihaylov, software development engineer for Host Color. "Running those services on a shared hosting server is bound to harm performance. That's why we devised an email scanning solution that does not take up the server's resource. An out of server email scanner also has much quicker learning capabilities. This means that it constantly upgrades its definitions of which messages can be considered spam."
Users of the new system also have the ability to turn scanning features off through Host Color's Next Color control panel.
