November 19, 2001 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Speedera Networks Inc. (speedera.com), a global provider of content delivery services, and Ebone (ebone.com), a European broadband and IP and optical networking company based out of London, England, announced a partnership today that will increase the global presence of both companies.
The partnership is part of the Speedera Fusion program, which is designed to provide partners of Speedera with a full set of managed delivery services. Ebone feels the partnership will help improve the company's content delivery abilities. Leo McCloskey, the Ebone's Senior Vice President of Marketing, said modern service providers need to be able to provide streaming services that are independent of geographical concerns.
"Streaming, in particular, is a service that must operate completely independently of individual networks," McCloskey said. "By joining the Fusion program, we have enhanced our streaming services by integrating into an established, industry-leading, worldwide content delivery network."
Under the agreement, Speedera will get access to one of Europe's largest networks, which will increase the company's European presence and allow it to get strategic access points on the network. Speedera specializes in the distribution of live, on-demand, and secure streams to users across the globe. Rather than using a single server or centralized origin point for the data, the company uses a number of edge servers located around the world to provide the content more quickly and at a higher quality.
Ajit Gupta, the CEO of Speedera, is very pleased with how the Fusion program has turned out; in fact, he said, the company is constantly seeking out new alliances.
"We believe that our superior technology, global network and channel-centric strategy has helped us make our Fusion partnership program extremely attractive to service providers," Gupta said. "The number and caliber of high profile service providers, like Ebone, who have signed on with Fusion since the program's recent launch is a testament that our approach is working."
