"FatCow's systems instantly noticed a surge in traffic the morning of Johnny's death," said Peter Ziesmann, marketing and development director for FatCow. "We immediately moved JohnnyCash.com to a dedicated high-traffic server, as we engaged additional infrastructure to support the increased demands."
According to the company, the JohnnyCash.com Web site was the top search return on Google for the search term "Johnny Cash." At one point, it was generating a reported one million requests an hour.
Bill Miller, a long time fan and friend of Johnny Cash, created the site in 1996.
"I don't think anyone could have anticipated the amount of traffic the site would generate after Johnny's death," stated Miller. "FatCow's response was incredible. I couldn't have asked for more dedication and personal attention in making sure the site was and continues to be supported for Johnny's fans everywhere."
JohnnyCash.com attracts more than 200,000 visitors a month.
