February 13, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Hostway (hostway.com) announced on Thursday that it will acquire the core assets of .RegistryPro (registrypro.com), exclusive operator of the .pro top-level domain and subsidiary of domain registrar Register.com (register.com), subject to approval by ICANN. Upon completion of the RegistryPro transaction, Hostway's subsidiary Registry Services Corporation will become the registry operator for the .pro top-level Internet domain for professionals.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Registry Services Corporation said it intends to launch the .pro registry in the second quarter of 2004.
