May 6, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Netcraft (netcraft.com) today released the findings of its most recent Web Server Survey. Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.
According to the findings of the survey, Apache (apache.org) and Microsoft (microsoft.com) remain at the head of the Web server software pack. The percentage of Web servers running Apache dipped slightly from 62.57 percent to 62.53 percent between April and May. A corresponding drop was found for Microsoft servers, with the percentages going from 27.45 to 27.17.
The survey found that there were already thousands of Web sites running on Windows Server 2003 platforms even before its official release. The reason behind this was the Windows Server 2003 beta program, which allowed vendors to test the platform before its official launch.
The three providers with the largest number of sites hosted on Windows Server 2003 all share status as Microsoft Certified partners, with the fourth largest provider being Microsoft itself. In terms of total sites hosted, the numbers are as follows: Interland (interland.com) ? 4996 sites, Schlund (schlund.de) ? 3125 sites, Fasthosts (fasthosts.co.uk) ? 2250 sites and Microsoft ? 811 sites. Interland and Schlund are hosting 144,488 and 1,450,868 sites on Linux platforms respectively.
