The latest report shows a significant shift into "high" territory, with the Current Conditions and Expectations indicies positioned at 59.8 and 73.6 respectively. Leading the pack among the SPCI sub-indices are Current Industry Conditions, rising by 22 points, and Capital Spending Expectations, increasing by 11 points.
"Service providers have charged into 2005 so far, continuing the trend of overall rising confidence that began in September of last year," says Chris Neal, research director at Sage Research. "Once again, the sub-indices show increases almost entirely across the board-with the Overall Conditions in particular betraying a general optimism."
Compiled since January 2002, Sage Research's bi-monthly SPCI measures and interprets the current state of telecommunications service providers. It signifies to firms that sell products or solutions to service providers what their customers see as the present state of the industry and what they can expect in the near future.
