February 24, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Hosting automation and enterprise server software developer SWsoft Inc. (SW-soft.com) announced on Friday that it has released the results of internal testing of the Windows version of its Virtuozzo OS virtualization platform.
Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.
The company says the Windows version of Virtuozzo allows IT managers to slice Intel servers into more than 100 dynamically resizable Windows Virtual Environments (VE), with each VE functionally identical to a dedicated Windows server, with resource control and complete isolation.
According to SWsoft, testing showed that a single CPU could support 100 VEs, each running Microsoft's SQL server, IIS, and COM+ applications written in Active Server Pages. In the SWsoft tests, a single VE scaled to 8 GB of memory and 4 CPUs.
"Although we are still in the process of testing Virtuozzo for Windows on larger SMP machines, we are confident that each Virtuozzo for Windows VE will scale to the full machine." said Dr. Alexander Tormasov, chief scientist for SWsoft.
The company says a preview of the functionality of Virtuozzo for Windows has been released to press and analysts. According to SWsoft, public testing will be available within three months, and the product is scheduled for public release within six months.
