XML And Web Services Conference Adds Expert Panel

August 24, 2001 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) - Tech Conferences, Inc. (vbconnections.com), a producer of information technology conferences, announced yesterday the addition of an expert panel to the XML and Web Services Connections conference. The conference will run at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona from September 30 to October 3.

Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.

The expert panel will discuss Web services and the architecture of next-generation Internet applications, including exchanges, portals, and a global e-business infrastructure. Organizations collaborating over the Internet, particularly for electronic business, are expected to be major producers of Web services consumed by partners and customers.

Several global technology initiatives have adopted XML and the exchange of XML documents as the new model for e-business. IBM, Microsoft, Ariba and 270+ organizations are participating in the Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) initiative that hosts an electronic business registry (uddi.org). The United Nations partnered with OASIS, an organization of over 150 technology companies, to create specifications for electronic business with XML.

The panel members represent a cross-section of leading software companies participating in the development of ebXML, UDDI and Web services. Their diverse background includes distributed computing, XML, messaging technologies, Java 2 Enterprise Edition, .NET, and e-business. Panelists include Geoff Brown, contributing architect for Oracle Message Broker and Oracle Exchange; Mark Colan, InfoBus architect and Lead XML and E-Business Evangelist, IBM; John Evdemon, Member of the W3C XML Core Working Group and CTO Vitria XML Solutions; James Kao, J2EE guru and vice president, The Middleware company; Duane Nickull, editor of the ebXML Technical Architecture specification and CTO, XML Global; and Eric Schmidt, Program Manager for XML Web Services at Microsoft. The panel moderator is Ken North, president of Ken North Computing LLC and XML and Web Services channel editor for Dr. Dobb's Journal.

''Increased bandwidth over the next few years means collaborative Internet applications will become more practical. Major industry players such as IBM and Microsoft are promoting the Web services model and UDDI has been a proof-of-concept, but the technology still faces major obstacles. We've assembled a distinguished panel to discuss Web services and distributed computing alternatives, and issues such as licensing, privacy, transactions, security and scalability,'' said panel moderator Ken North.

The panel discussion will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on October 2 at the Scottsdale Princess. Admission is free for persons registering for the special events pass for XML and Web Services Connections (xmlconnections.com), Windows & .NET Server Connections (devconnections.com/win/), or Office Developer Connections (devconnections.com/office/).
